10gen, the MongoDB company, today announced a strategic investment and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. Through this strategic partnership, 10gen aims to extend MongoDB's position as the leading NoSQL database that enables users to quickly and easily code, scale, and operate applications, to closely align with the U.S. Intelligence community and address unique mission critical requirements.
"The ability to store and query both unstructured and structured data with performance at scale makes MongoDB an important addition to our strategic investment portfolio." stated Robert Ames, Vice President of Information and Communication Technologies at IQT. "MongoDB is built to leverage big data and holds great promise for the development of new storage and processing capabilities."
MongoDB bridges the gap between relational database management systems (RDBMS) and key-value stores - instead of storing data in tables and rows, MongoDB stores data in documents with dynamic schemas. Global enterprises rely on MongoDB for storage of their application data in industries including Telecommunications, Financial Services, Media, Government and Technology.
"We view In-Q-Tel joining 10gen as a strategic investor and partner as further validation of our technological capabilities," said Max Schireson, president of 10gen. "We are excited to initiate this partnership to provide technology tools to support the mission of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
