CyPhy Works, a leader in next generation robotics technologies, today announced that it has closed a strategic investment and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of U.S. Intelligence agencies.CyPhy Works is the creator of automated hovering robots that can enable reliable long distance communications in the field. A unique microfilament tether carries power and Ethernet communication between the robot and operators on the ground.
"The demand for mobile, persistent and reliable reconnaissance and communications capabilities continue to rapidly rise," said Matt England, CyPhy Works' VP Government Systems. "The small logistical footprint makes these robots an ideal platform."
"CyPhy Works has a proven track record and a novel approach to development of next generation robotics," said Simon Davidson, Investments Partner at IQT. "We're pleased to help facilitate continued development of this innovative technology."
"We're excited to work with In-Q-Tel," said Helen Greiner, CEO, CyPhy Works. "These systems are already delivering extreme endurance, increased communications range, and 24/7 operations. We look forward to the next generation of capabilities."
