Geosemble Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of geospatial technology, announced today a strategic investment, technology development program, and licensing agreement with In-Q-Tel, the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the mission of the CIA and the broader U.S. Intelligence Community. Through this strategic partnership, Geosemble will expand the development of its patented geospatial data integration and layering technology for both the government and commercial markets.
Geosemble specializes in products that leverage automatic techniques for extracting and integrating geospatial information, including maps, aerial imagery, news, events, databases and business information, among other data. A key advantage of automatically integrating and displaying this type of data is an accelerated, more robust decision making process that comes at a lower cost, thereby delivering an advantage to a range of government and commercial users.
"Geosemble is a critical addition to our portfolio of mapping and data integration technologies," said Troy M. Pearsall, Executive Vice President of Architecture and Engineering at In-Q-Tel. "We review thousands of innovative business plans but invest in only those few that address the most difficult technology challenges faced by both commercial enterprises and the national security community. Geosemble's ability to accurately and automatically link news and data to specific geographic locations brings great promise for both the private and public sectors."
"This partnership with In-Q-Tel emphasizes Geosemble's technology leadership in the automatic integration of news and data with imagery and maps", said Andre Doumitt, CEO of Geosemble Technologies. "In effect, we're bringing a new capability to a broad commercial and government market where maps, satellite imagery and information need to converge quickly and accurately down to the building level."
In-Q-Tel conducted a thorough evaluation before selecting Geosemble's technology and based its investments on a three-pronged evaluation process. This includes rigorous vetting for technical excellence, examination of the financial and venture value of the investment, and the quality of the match between the commercial solution and the broadly described problem set of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
