Capella Space
Having access to clear and timely satellite imagery is essential for many critical missions. IQT recognized the limitations of optical satellites, which require daylight and no cloud cover in order to gather images, and actively sought out technological alternatives. SAR can collect Earth-observation data in all kinds of weather conditions 24 hours a day. Capella was one of the first U.S. SAR commercial companies and IQT invested early to give our government partners insights into how the technology was developing and ultimately access to their imagery.
Capella’s satellites have been tasked by the company’s customers many thousands of times since the war in Ukraine began, providing important real-time access to what is happening on the ground. Traditionally, SAR data was classified, but having commercial providers has enabled this data to become available outside of government users, allowing for inter-government sharing.
